Academic Affairs: Faculty Recruitment

Welcome to the University of California, Davis, Faculty Recruitment Home Page. UC Davis is a land-grant institution located in the heart of California's Central Valley. Its proximity to urban areas such as Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area offer a variety of diverse cultural experiences, while a short drive east leads to several beautiful lakes and rivers and a wide variety of outdoor activities. It is home to Colleges in the arts, engineering, humanities, sciences, and agriculture and environmental disciplines, and professional Schools of Education, Law, Management, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

Because of its dual responsibility as a repository of knowledge and as a forum for the examination of new and old ideas, the campus is especially dependent on the diversity of its academic work force to fulfill its mission. Diversity in disciplinary training, academic interests, areas of specialization, and teaching and research approaches and styles are widely accepted, necessary and desirable in an academic institution. Diversity in all of its dimensions is no less important in ensuring that the University's work force brings a full range of backgrounds and perspectives to bear in addressing its teaching, research, and service responsibilities. UC Davis is committed to building a more diverse faculty, staff, and student body as it responds to the changing population and educational needs of California and the nation. To this end, the campus is interested in candidates who are committed to the highest standards of scholarship and professional activities, and is committed to the development of a climate that supports equality and diversity.

The Davis campus is at the forefront of institutions of higher learning in the support of programs designed to maintain excellence through diversity. Such programs include the Partner Opportunities Program, Work Life Balance, Family Friendly Policies, Housing, Mortgage and Relocation Programs, Campus Diversity Programs and Training, Faculty Awards and Fellowships, and Principles of Community.
