Overview
Academic Personnel offers a two-day, mandatory Chairs Training Program for newly appointed department chairs, generally held just before Fall Quarter each academic year. The first program offering was held in fall 2005. The goal of the program is to provide chairs with key information and resources viewed as helpful in assisting them in their transitions to their new role. The program also allows chairs the opportunity for interaction with their counterparts in other departments and programs. Returning chairs are also invited to attend and lend their experiences and perspectives to the dialogue. Each year, after reviewing the evaluations received, Academic Personnel updates the program to make it as useful and practical for the chairs and vice chairs in attendance. We look forward to each fall offering. For more information, contact Binnie Singh, Director of Faculty Relations and Development--Academic Personnel, at (530) 752-0963, or binsingh@ucdavis.edu.
