Training and Development -- Staff

Throughout the academic year, the Office of Academic Personnel sponsors a variety of workshops and programs to assist UC Davis staff in their professional development. This 2004 - 2005 academic year, we are offering an Academic Personnel administration certificate series, as well as a Brown Bags series for staff consisting of informal discussions of various aspects of merit and promotion dossier preparation processes.

  • Certificate Series for Academic Personnel Administration

Offered through Staff Development and Professional Services (SDPS), this eight-course certificate series is targeted for staff who have a working knowledge of academic personnel administration and who wish to gain the skills to effectively administer the full range of academic personnel activities and responsibilities at UC Davis. The series will emphasize participants’ responsibility to think critically and to solve problems using appropriate policies and resources. The format includes lecture, discussion, and interactive case scenarios. Instructors represent the academic department, Deans' Office and Vice Provost’s Office perspectives.

Topics include: Academic Advancement, Recruitment and Retention, Academic Compensation, Leaves, Unit 18 and Contract Interpretation, Advanced Academic Personnel Topics, and Conflict Management.

Participants who complete all eight courses in the series will receive a certificate of completion.
